InstallationSuatac™ is a new kind of manhole cover and requires special attention when installing on the roads. To get the best results and minimize maintenance costs, these installation guidelines should be followed for ease of installation. Installation Method #1: Existing Manhole CoverExisting manhole covers are in very bad condition. When installing Suatac, the old installation must first be removed and prepared for the new product to sit on the concrete structure. All unwanted material under the cover: concrete, brick and asphalt is cleaned out and a granular material is compacted where the old manhole cover was. This provides a uniform material around the new manhole cover. Suatac™ is then installed and leveled with the existing asphalt. A special leveling tool is used to ensure Suatac is at perfect level with the existing road surface.
Installation Method #2: Newly Constructed Manhole StructureThe sewer contractor must install a concrete cover on top of the concrete structure instead of putting the standard manhole cover. This acts like a plug to keep the hole sealed. Next, the road contractor comes to work on the road. They level and compact a sub-base before laying any asphalt. They then lay the asphalt on top of the compacted sub-base. The concrete plug is now covered by the asphalt surface. To prevent losing the location of the cover, it is tied in. A large cookie-cutter machine with a round diamond blade cuts around the perimeter of the concrete cover nested over the concrete structure. After the concrete cover is removed, Suatac™ is installed where the concrete cover was. We use the leveling device to ensure the cover is perfectly level with the road surface.
Installation Method #3: Adjusting Manhole Cover for Laying New AsphaltBefore the existing asphalt surface is grinded away, the cookie cutter machine has to cut the asphalt until the depth of the outer ring flange. The cover and the ring is removed and the cover only is placed on top of the inner frame and covered with heavy plastic and locked into inner frame. The road contractor then grinds the surface and lay new asphalt - covering Suatac™ in the process. The cookie cutter device is used again to cut away the asphalt and debris on top of the cover. Height adjustment is performed again and Suatac™ is leveled with the new road surface.
